I was taking pictures of my son and nephew while they were burying me in a huge pile of leaves. I had a 50mm f/1.8 fixed lens and was trying to take pictures of them having fun. The lens captured the leaves instead of my son. It was unexpected and unintentional — I didn’t see it until I pulled them onto my computer.

is something not in focus here? My eyesight is not so good.
The shallow depth of field makes it look like the leaves are floating in zero gravity; pretty neat!
Thanks! Your website is great! I think my students could really learn something from it.
Thanks so much – glad you like it! I’m always adding new stuff to it & if there’s anything you and your students would like to see a tutorial about, I love to get ideas from people since there are plenty of topics I might know about but haven’t thought about writing something on. Feel free to shoot me an email anytime at nick [at] itsjustlight.com
I’ve had my iPad do this when I was taking a photo, too. Sometimes it turns out wonderfully, as did yours.
